Why Donate to the Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation?

The Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation is a permanent charitable resource that grows through your support and provides funding to local non-profit organizations. When you give to the endowment, you’re helping to meet the needs of our community today, and for years to come. Your gift supports the Saanich Peninsula in perpetuity.

How Does It Work – What Happens to My Contributions?

Your contribution is invested in an endowment fund. This fund – the principal – is set aside and permanently held. Only the interest from the fund is spent, not the principal that anchors the endowment. A Board of respected volunteers dedicated to Saanich Peninsula initiatives governs the Foundation. They have teamed with the Victoria Foundation to manage the fund’s growth.

The interest income is disbursed for grants on an annual basis. Grants from these funds support a wide range of community endeavors on the Saanich Peninsula including

  • education
  • welfare
  • culture
  • environment
  • health and recreation

Local grant recipients have included community groups such as the Peninsula Crossroads Community Restorative Justice Program, North Saanich Brierfoot Rowing Club, the Peninsula Museum Society, to name a few.
